Swarms of Amphamoth are found along coastal cliffs where they illuminate the clifftops at night. Their collective light is bright enough that sailors are able to use them in place of lighthouses to avoid beaching their ships.

Amphamoth are nocturnal--they only are active at night. It gives off so much light that it can be seen even from space.
