On hot days, Azuper slowly get increasingly distressed, and excrete a gel that cools them down and collects in their tail. This gel will then leak out overnight and serves as a deterrent to predators.
Azuper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. Its tail, which is packed with nutrition, is very bouncy like a rubber ball.
