Bulbaogre can be found living in deep rivers in tropical rainforests, spraying water into the air to water the plants around them. Once the entire rainforest is soaked with their water, they create channels to spread their domain.

The thick, heavy leaves on Bulbaogre's back are specialized for extreme water retention. This adaptation allows the Pokémon to survive when a drought comes for long periods without needing to find a fresh water source .

Bulbaogre has appeared in mythology as the creator of the sea. Bulbaogre can be seen napping in bright sunlight.
