To prevent being fully eaten, Caterpoke allows predators to take and eat its tail off as a concession. With it constantly molting, it easily regrows the tail back in a few days to become whole again.
It catches prey by dipping its tail in water at the side of a river. Its voracious appetite compels it to devour leaves bigger than itself without hesitation.
