Caterple have an insatiable appetite for leaves and bark and are constantly on the move to find more food. If anyone tries to interrupt their feeding session, they sting foes with the twin spikes on their tail.
Caterple spend most of their time eating leaves high up in the trees. When threatened by Flying-type Pokémon, they will don their spikes, warding predators off.
