Cleftump are found wandering the sites of fallen meteorites. Each time these Pokémon visit a new one, they absorb the minerals inside, gradually filling out their horns until they form a hard shell around the cosmic energy flowing from their heads.

These Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died in the forest. On nights with many shooting stars, Cleftump can be seen dancing in a ring.
