Dunsect dig tunnels through densely packed soil, using their tough claws to penetrate through all but the hardest rocks. They feed on plant roots and tubers, storing energy from them in the symbiotic mushroom on their back.

Dunsect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. Its drill-tipped tail is used to burrow into the ground backwards.
