During nighttime hours, Duscsect's spore production quadruples, covering the ground around its nest in grey powder. Inhaling this powder can cause intense nausea and fevers, keeping intruders well away from its home.

Duscsect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. It is thought that its body is hollow with only a spectral ball of fire burning inside.
