On warm and humid nights, groups of Dustper emerge from the swampy water they sleep in to eat grasses and plants. In colder months, they bury themselves in the mud and hibernate.

Dustper's main prey are Lanturn because they are attracted to the light that they produce. Dustper's eyes excrete a goo that gives them temporary protection to the extreme light Lanturn produces, allowing them to chase down their prey.

Dustper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. It is a nocturnal Pokémon that flies from fields and mountains to the attraction of streetlights at night.
