When wild Flaplume ignite the Fire Stone burning atop their heads, their fur gets singed and releases a toxic smoke. Domestic Flaplume are trained to focus their fires into smaller flares in order to avoid spreading the smoke indoors.

In seasons when it produces more pollen, the air around a Flaplume turns yellow with the powder as it walks. Flaplume's fluffy fur releases heat into the air so that its body does not get excessively hot.
