Gaskern has two methods of protecting itself: violently shaking its leaves and releasing toxic gas from its body. The latter is only done as a last resort, however, as it can also harm Gaskern itself if it is not careful.

Gaskern try to minimize movement to conserve the nutrients they have stored in their bodies for evolution. When exposed to a strong wind, a Gaskern's gaseous body quickly dwindles away.
