Due to the light seeping out and the glowing sand it produces, Golucargo were used as guides for ancient temples. They are still in use today, mostly as guides for old historic caves.
The shell on its back is made of hardened magma. It is said that Golucargo were ordered to protect people and Pokémon by the ancient people who made them.
