Many Hypder attempt to hypnotise other Pokémon by swinging the pendulum in front of their body. This often leaves them hypnotized by their own powers, giving them a dizzying headache.

At night, it burrows a hole in the seafloor with its broad tongue to make a place to sleep. The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum in a Hypder's hand lull the foe into deep hypnosis.
