The dome on Kecterra's back contains a miniature ecosystem maintained by its diet of berries, plants, and water. The organisms found inside are being researched for use in the medical field. When resting, it camouflages its body against the ground.

The landscape depicted on Kecterra's shell has an odd similarity to the Unovan Blueberry Academy. Kecterra brought to the academy will adjust their shells to highlight spots that they are particularly fond of.

Small Pokémon occasionally gather on its unmoving back to begin building their nests. A Pokémon that has the ability to alter its body colors to match its surroundings.
