Magturne's spines are bits of lava from its body that have cooled and hardened after exposure to the air. It can fire them off in large volleys to deter intruders, new spines forming in their place within seconds.

After spending thousands of years in harsh deserts, its blood transformed into the same substances as sand. The shell on its back is made of hardened magma.
