Almost all of Magpede's body is covered by a layer of cooled, hardened lava, protecting the body while it evolves. When evolution draws near, it will roll up the side of the nearest volcano, diving in to complete its transformation.
It is usually motionless, but when attacked, it rotates at high speed and then crashes into its opponent. The shell on its back is made of hardened magma.
