Maquil emits flames from its back as a defense mechanism. Its woolly fur can grow quite thick, but Trainers usually shear their Maquil to keep the wool from catching fire.
Maquil do not see very well, but they have an excellent sense of smell. Their body is resistant to fire, so if their fluffy wool grows too thick, they simply burn it off by releasing fire through specific glands.
