Mudper's first instinct with something new is to bite it, first lightly and playfully but then harder if the object is a threat or food. To stay safe while sleeping, it sinks into mud with only its nostrils, eyes, and gills exposed.

Mudper usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally. On land, it can powerfully lift large boulders by planting its four feet and heaving.
