Pidrina nest in alpine regions, finding hollows amongst tree roots to hide their nests from predators. They are fiercely protective of their nest, fluffing up their feathers to appear bigger to scare off anyone that finds them.
When it is with its friends or family, its barbs are tucked away to prevent injury. It has an extremely sharp sense of direction.
