Ratwig make their homes amongst the roots of trees, creating intricate burrow networks within forests. They use their sharp teeth to feast on roots and tubers in safety underground, nourishing the plant growing from their head.

Made from soil, the shell on its back hardens when it drinks water. A Ratwig is cautious in the extreme.
