Sandeen live in lakes that regularly dry out over the summer months. They are able to endure these dry periods by curling their fins in on themselves and letting their scaly skin face the elements, preserving their moisture until the rain returns.

In the springtime, schools of Sandeen can be seen swimming up falls and rivers. When it curls up in a ball, it can make any attack bounce off harmlessly.
