While Caterade typically eats leaves, its favourite food is rosebuds. It may even try to eat the bouquets on its hand, unless it is given enough leaves to satiate its hunger. It has a particular preference for red roses over any other colour.

It attracts prey with a sweet aroma, then downs it with thorny whips hidden in its arms. Its voracious appetite compels it to devour leaves bigger than itself without hesitation.
