Charnoir resides around dormant and active volcanoes. It is thought Charnoir is most active when a volcano is about to erupt. Team Magma uses Charnoir to predict volcanic eruptions, attempting to catch multiple Charnoir during volcanic activity.

The antenna on its head captures radio waves from the world of spirits that command it to take people there. A Charnoir flies about in search of strong opponents.
