Deirantis cannot see; however, their long arms help them navigate the caves they nest in. At the touch of anything unfamiliar, they will bite, digging their teeth into anything they don't recognize.
It requires a lot of effort to maintain Deirantis's vivid coloring, but some collectors enjoy this work and treat it as their hobby. They cannot see, so they tackle and bite to learn about their surroundings.
