While underwater, Fladra uses its extremely high internal body temperature to create a defensive barrier while it sleeps on the ocean floor. The tufts of hair on the top of its head act as camouflage.

It sleeps quietly, deep on the seafloor. Fladra's fluffy fur releases heat into the air so that its body does not get excessively hot.
