Kyuzma resides deep in caves where its ice can spread freely. Using telepathy, Kyuzma convinces Hikers to bring them lanterns so that they can devour the light.

Light is apparently the source of its energy. It generates a powerful, freezing energy inside itself, but its body became frozen when the energy leaked out.
