After pinning prey down with its two strong tails, Parapom releases a deluge of red spores onto them. These spores incapacitate the prey so it can drag them back to its nest to feed.

To eat, it deftly shucks nuts with its two tails. Parapom are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
