Pararelp release toxic spores as they swim, killing off most aquatic plants whilst leaving kelp forests unharmed. Pararelp's bright colours make them visible within the kelp, drawing in predators and resulting in their parasitic fungus spreading.

Camouflaged as rotten kelp, they spray liquid poison on prey that approaches unawares and then finish it off. Pararelp are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
