The fungi on Pararein's back is similar in texture to barnacles, even being able to be scraped off. If a Pokémon or person is too close, Pararein will grip onto a limb and drag them deep into the cold waters.

To protect its herd, the leader battles anything that invades its territory, even at the cost of its life. Pararein are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
