Sunoh appears in a legend wherein, purportedly, any leaf it sheds starts a fire when it lands. The myth started when a startled Sunoh was seen fleeing into the sky to escape a wildfire.

Its feathers--which glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light--are thought to bring joy. Sunoh try to minimize movement to conserve the nutrients they have stored in their bodies for evolution.
