Early sightings of Shuskull in the wild reported the macabre sight of it bleeding from its eyes. Further research revealed this was simply excess berry juice from within its body leaking out through the hollow sockets.

A glare from its single scarlet eye makes even burly grown-ups freeze in utter fear. A Shuskull hides under rocks, keeping its body concealed inside its shell while eating stored berries.
