Hypterra spend most of their lives sleeping, only rarely being seen moving. What look like melting watches on their backs are in reality adapted leaves that can absorb a large amount of sunlight. Their strange leaves have inspired famous paintings.

Small Pokémon occasionally gather on its unmoving back to begin building their nests. The arcing movement and glitter of the pendulum in a Hypterra's hand lull the foe into deep hypnosis.
