The keratin that makes up Torchtata's beak grows quickly. Due to this, Torchtata will rub its beak against rocks and tree bark to whittle down the excess material. If it goes too long without maintaining its beak, Torchtata will struggle to eat.
A Torchtata is cautious in the extreme. If attacked, it strikes back by spitting balls of fire it forms in its stomach.
