Venupert spend most of their lives submerged in deep mud, waiting for unsuspecting Pokémon to draw too close. The symbiotic plants on their backs allow them to photosynthesize when no food is available.
Venupert takes great pride in the flower on its back. The more vibrant the flower is, the healthier the Venupert. It spends a great amount of time lounging in the sun to help the flower grow.
If it senses the approach of a storm and a tidal wave, it protects its seaside nest by piling up boulders. Venupert's flower is said to take on vivid colors if it gets plenty of nutrition and sunlight.
