Wingoh seen in coastal waters and ports tend to have a different coloration than those found in the deep sea, sporting blue and white plumage. Due to their rarity, whether this is caused by environmental or other factors has yet to be determined.
Its feathers--which glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light--are thought to bring joy. It makes its nest on a sheer cliff at the edge of the sea.
