Woorok can detect thermal signatures while in the water. As soon as it makes its way onto land, the lack of moisture causes its receptors to shrivel up, making it effectively blind. It must leave the water at least once a day to absorb sunlight.
The special membrane covering its eyes can sense the heat of objects, so it can see its surroundings, even in darkness. Woorok usually live in water but come out onto land seeking food occasionally.
