The markings on Anomer's face, coupled with its large size, are effective scare tactics to frighten off some predators. It submerges itself halfway into the sand at the ocean bottom, filter-feeding for most of the day.

While this Pokémon usually lives in the sea, it can survive on land, although not too long. It was resurrected from a fossil using the power of science.
