As long as Bulbamer receive sunlight, they do not need to breathe. On sunny days out in the open ocean, they can be found upside-down to nourish the bulb with the sun's rays. Many bird Pokémon perch on their stomachs to rest.

While this Pokémon usually lives in the sea, it can survive on land, although not too long. Bulbamer can be seen napping in bright sunlight.
