Casrain knows it is almost helpless during the evolution process. As it spins its cocoon, it painstakingly forms spikes and false eyes in hopes of deterring predators.
It intimidates foes with the large eyelike patterns on its antennae. To avoid detection by its enemies, it hides motionlessly beneath large leaves and in the gaps of branches.
