Cupert watches travelers while submerged in the mud to appear as little more than discarded bones. If a trespasser starts causing trouble, it leaps from the muck to strike them down with its bony weapons.

Cupert dig through their swampy homes to find bones. They shake the earth to pick up vibrations from bones that they dig up and collect on their backs.

If it senses the approach of a storm and a tidal wave, it protects its seaside nest by piling up boulders. It pines for the mother it will never see again.
