Misfortune seems to fall upon those who stare at Duscoon; it is thought it curses those nearby. One myth describes a boy who stared too long into Duscoon's eye, and later woke up as a Duscoon himself.

To avoid detection by its enemies, it hides motionlessly beneath large leaves and in the gaps of branches. A glare from its single scarlet eye makes even burly grown-ups freeze in utter fear.
