Grosect is protected from attack by clouds of toxic spores produced by a fungus infesting the bush on its back. To keep them both healthy, Grosect spends most of the day digging up soil and water to consume.

Grosect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. It lives along water in forests.
