Much of Magela's body is comprised of vines made from cooled lava that hardened. It sheds many of these vines weekly to prevent its body from becoming too heavy to move.

Its vines snap off easily and painlessly if they are grabbed, allowing it to make a quick getaway. The shell on its back is made of hardened magma.
