Magiran must make do with the leftovers of other Pokémon, as its body is still too weak to swim with any speed. Its only line of defense is the venomous crest on its forehead.

Magiran often get stuck in tide pools. Their stubby legs don't permit movement on land so they hide in mud, using their toxic spines as protection from coastal predators until the tide rolls back in.

Its highly toxic barbs are thought to have developed as protection for this small-bodied Pokémon. Its swimming muscles are weak, so it is easily washed away by currents.
