When Necrotomp grows too many impurities on its legs, it is no longer able to keep balance while walking and must get on all fours. By applying a mixture of mud and light energy onto itself, it can heal off the impurities and walk normally again.
Its toughened hind legs enable it to stand upright. Light is apparently the source of its energy.
