The spores Palosect scatters allow it to sense prey moving across the sand's surface even while it sleeps. The spores share so many qualities with sand that they are nearly impossible to tell apart.
Palosect are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients. Buried beneath the castle are masses of dried-up bones from those whose vitality it has drained.
