Pakip burrows in mud flats and salt marshes, digging up plant roots to eat. While it also eats a lot of mud, this seems to help the fungus growing on its cheeks to flourish.
On land, it can powerfully lift large boulders by planting its four feet and heaving. A Pakip has parasitic tochukaso mushrooms growing on its back.
