Paraster sleeps in clusters within sea caves in groups of eight. When prey draws close, they release a cloud of grey spores that causes intense dizziness and nausea.

It swims in the sea by swallowing water, then jetting it out toward the rear. Paraster are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
