Paraile burrows through the damp soil of the forest floor, with only its head and mushroom cap above the surface. The fungus on its body feeds it with nutrients drawn from the dirt, but to defend its mushroom, it will bite anyone who approaches.

It moves along below the sand's surface, except for its nose and eyes. Paraile are known to infest the roots of large trees en masse and drain nutrients.
