Although the shell of Pinetortle makes it hard for it to swim efficiently, its shell is effective at stopping waves from doing major damage. Smaller Pokémon that reside on the beach hide behind Pinetortle's shell when the waves start to get intense.
Its large tail is covered with rich, thick fur that deepens in color with age. A Pinetortle hangs from a tree branch and waits for prey.
